Correct Mascara Application

The eyes are said to be the windows to the soul. But the eyelashes are the curtains that adorn the eyes. It is very important that a woman know how to put mascara correctly to accentuate the eyes more beautifully.

In putting on mascara, it can be a little easier if you have a smaller brush for your lower lashes. However, this can be done regardless of the size of your mascara wand. Follow the following steps to avoid getting mascara all over your eyes.

  1. Pick out the right mascara for you. Spend a little more time at the store to make sure that you get your desired effect from you product. If you want to make your lashes look longer, get something that will lengthen it. If you want to get more volume, there are also mascaras which will add volume to your lashes. If you want both length and volume, make sure that it is written on your product. Choose the right color that suits your hair color. If you are blond, you ought to take brown mascara. If you have brown or black hair, you ought to take black mascara. If you are more adventurous and you want to try a different color, it is best that you try to put it on while you are in the store before purchase. Also choose between waterproof and non-waterproof mascara. If you are planning to use it for every day use, it might be better to get the non-waterproof mascara. But if you are attending an event which may expose you to rain, you might want to consider waterproof.
  2. Curl your lashes to make them stand out. Before the exact occasion, you may want to try to curl your lashes in different ways, that way you will be able to know what you like best. Make sure that you follow the directions on your eyelash curler for best results.
  3. Clean your mascara wand with a tissue to remove build-ups. This will prevent unattractive and messy clumps. Apply your mascara slowly and carefully. Experts usually do the bottom first then the top lashes. Some prefer to do it otherwise. Try doing it both ways to yourself and see what works better for you. Start at the bottom of the lashes and apply it slowly towards the end following the curl of your eyelashes. Never apply more than one layer. If your mascara does not give you your desired volume or length in one coat, get a new one.
  4. Separate your eyelashes. You can use a special for this or you can use the post of you earrings to separate the group of lashes that stuck together.
  5. If there are smudges, use a clean tissue to wipe it off softly. Carefully wipe in the direction opposite the lashes, avoid touching wet mascara on lashes.
