Applying Makeup Concealer and Base Foundation

Learn how you can lay down the base makeup for a fresh complexion throughout the day by following these simple steps in applying concealer and foundation. This is the base of your makeup. It is important to know how to apply them properly to get your desired makeup look.

  1. Apply an oil-free moisturize to your skin and softly wipe with a clean cloth. This will soften skin and eliminate dry patches. Using a clean facial tissue, remove the excess moisturizer after a few minutes. Make sure that your face has been thoroughly washed before this.
  2. Blend a makeup primer on your face. Start from the center of your face then move outwards. If you are applying on your cheeks, do it on an upward motion. This will give you a smooth base for your foundation and concealer. A primer actually makes your makeup blend well and look more flawless.
  3. Choose a foundation that matches your skin tone. You can seek the aid of your makeup artist or favorite makeup seller for these. They know how to check the right tone of your foundation depending on the acidity of your skin. Make sure that you choose something which texture works well with your skin type. Powder or cream-based foundation is ideal to use for oilier skin to avoid unwanted sheen on your skin. Liquid formula on the other hand is better to use for dry skin. Avoid using a foundation that contains oil because it will only cause your makeup to break up.
  4. Check the coverage of the foundation before purchase. Light coverage is good if you have an even and smooth skin. Heavier coverage formula is best if your skin has uneven tones and a lot of blemishes. If you fall somewhere in between, use a medium coverage foundation. Smooth the foundation all over your face including the area under the eyes and the eyelids. Foam can help you even out your application.
  5. Dab concealer under your eye area. Start at the corner of your eyes near the bridge of the nose. This will cover darkness without over-brightening this area. Choose a concealer one tone lighter than your skin tone. This will even out upon application. Use your ring finger in dabbing. This is the finger to use since will help you apply concealer with the right pressure. Be careful in application since this skin is very delicate.
  6. Cover scars and blemishes that are still evident under your foundation using a cover-up of camouflage stick. Use one that is half shade lighter than your foundation. Make sure that all lines blend well in your skin for a more seamless finish.
  7. Finish up by dusting your face with a translucent powder. Mineral loose powder can also work well.
